Ann Sargeant
Some people regard Ann Sargeant as the greatest ambassador for any sport in Australia. She represented Australia in netball for more than ten years, six of these as captain.
In 2004 she was named Sydney’s Greatest Ever Netballer. Sydney Ferries named their newest HarbourCat after her in recognition of her outstanding sporting achievements – the first time a team sportswoman had been so recognised.
Since her retirement in 1988, Ann has continued to work in sport and media and community groups. Ann is a highly regarded writer, speaker, commentator and presenter and in 1992 was awarded the Communicator of the Year Award by the Public Relations Institute of Australia.
