Bob Davis
Affectionately known as ”Woofer” as he loves greyhound racing, Bob was recruited from Golden Point in the Ballarat Football League and then played with Geelong in the VFL from 1948 until 1958.
Bob was best known for his speed and persistency and the press at the time affectionately called him “The Geelong Flier”. This was rewarded as he was chosen to represent Victoria. Another accolade was bestowed upon him when he played in two premierships for Geelong in 1951 and 1952.
He later became the coach of Geelong firstly in 1956, but was officially appointed to the position in 1960. His coaching skills were rewarded when he coached Geelong to the VFL Premiership in the Grand Final of 1963.
Bob is still an active participant within the football community and has appeared on TV shows such as “The Footy Show” on the Nine Network.
